Cal Crutchlow will start from the second row of the grid on Sunday for the Aragón Grand Prix after putting in an impressive performance by setting the fifth fastest time in the qualifying session. The result obtained this Saturday by the 30-year-old Briton once again allows his team to appear as the first satellite team at the end of these tests despite a fall at the front which occurred during his second outing during Q2 .

Despite recurring difficulties entering corners on the handlebars of his RC213V, the native of Coventry has always shown constant speed since the start of this Iberian weekend and has legitimate hopes of being able to fight for a place on the podium at the end of an event which will consist of 23 laps. Cal Crutchlow has indeed managed to string together several series of competitive laps in race configuration, and although he remains logically disappointed at not having been able to finish the qualifying session as he would have hoped, he will nevertheless have set his time the fastest in 1'47.843.

Cal Crutchlow #35 – 5rd (1'47.843)

“I am of course logically disappointed because I sincerely think that I had the possibilities of being able to get on the first row of the grid today. Unfortunately I made a mistake when braking at the end of the qualifying session but that's something typical with the Honda at the moment. I was attacking really hard in this braking zone to try to gain as much time as possible on the other riders, but that's an integral part of MotoGP. Obviously I wouldn't have been able to dislodge Marc Márquez who took pole position but second place was within our reach. I drove to the limits of what I could do and we saw what happened.”

“Our objectives for tomorrow are of course to be able to fight at the front, but starting from the second row, that complicates things slightly. Andrea Dovizioso is not far from us and he always has a habit of getting good starts. However, he could succeed in keeping us in the race as he has an extremely fast machine when exiting curves. We must therefore make as much effort as possible in the first laps and then try to keep up with the leaders.”
