After the cold, the sun awaited Loris Baz and the Avintia Racing team this Saturday at Spielberg. In these conditions, the Haut-Savoyard continued to work on the settings which had succeeded during the test at Phillip Island before the start of the season.
Loris gradually regained his feelings to improve his best time by more than 1,5 seconds. However, he continued to lose time on the long straights of the Austrian track. However, he remains confident for the race and is aiming for points when he takes the checkered flag.
“Nous avons remonté une moto dans la même configuration que celle que j’avais lors du test à Phillip Island. J’ai retrouvé mes sensations petit à petit, mais je manque toujours de confiance sur l’avant de la moto. Nous essayons de ne pas bousculer nos réglages afin de retrouver cette confiance. Nous avons progressé de une seconde et demie par rapport à vendredi.
Unfortunately, I continue to lose time on the straights. I lose almost nine tenths on Hector in these sectors and this is felt more over the duration of a lap. On the other hand, we have closed the gap on the curves. We have found the limit and we will try to find solutions in the warm up. We'll see what happens in the race.
Ce sera une course comme une autre. J’essaierai de remonter dans le premier tour, car mon rythme me permet de suivre quelques pilotes qui seront devant moi sur la grille. Il faudra ensuite ménager au mieux les pneus pour continuer à se faire plaisir tout au long de la course. C’est mon objectif pour aller vite.”
