During the first day of testing for the Argentine Grand Prix which takes place this weekend on the Termas de Río Hondo circuit in one of the hottest regions of the country, the MotoGP field had to deal with an asphalt dirty and dusty which will have even reached 60°C. The two free test sessions of the day therefore turned out to be relatively complicated.

Cal Crutchlow and the LCR Honda team made the decision to minimize risks during the morning session by carefully getting their bearings on an extremely slippery track where several drivers made mistakes. However, the 30-year-old Briton significantly increased the pace in the afternoon to conclude this Friday with a rather promising fifth time, improving his morning benchmark by more than two and a half seconds.

Cal Crutchlow #35 – 5rd (1'42.451)

“It was a somewhat strange day due to the track surface being extremely slippery today. It was really complicated to be able to understand exactly the reactions of the bike and to have very precise sensations on the handlebars but in the end we found ourselves in a relatively satisfactory situation. It seems at the moment that all the Hondas are showing agility at the start of the weekend and this increases our confidence and that of our manufacturer for the future.”

“The team has once again done remarkable work even though we still have many parameters to study tonight. We also have to take stock with the people at Michelin in order to opt for the best tire option because it seems that all the drivers are having some difficulty with the front. We will therefore see what our possibilities are in this area to increase our performance in the hope of being able to be competitive again tomorrow.”
