Three weeks before a Sachsenring full of memories, Xavier has rebuilt his confidence in Assen. At the end of a competitive race, he finally took 11th place. Author of a very good start, the Zelos/Classic21 driver battled for a long time around the Top 10. With two laps to go, he even took 9th position. But the red flag brought out following the arrival of rain froze the positions on the 21st lap.Improved on Saturday, Xavier achieved the 14th time in the qualifying session in 1'39''432 (+1''478) and was able to start from the 5th row.
On Sunday, under threatening skies, he made a perfect start and took 8th place at the end of the first lap! After giving up a few positions, he remained in contact with the Folger/Marquez duo. On lap 21, Xavier moved into 11th place by overtaking Cortese. The grip change flags started to come out as the rain made its appearance in the Cathedral. The Brussels driver remained focused and took the opportunity to overtake Folger and Marquez. The Red Flag exit froze the positions on the 21st lap and Xavier was therefore classified 11th.Xavier Simeon (Zelos/Classic21)

“This GP is positive. I got off to a good start to gain two lines from the first turns. But, a slight lack of speed penalized me in the last sector. I then lost contact with the drivers in front of me. While trying to catch up with them, I made a small mistake when braking, Marquez and Folger took advantage of it. They were then able to make the hole. I was able to keep a good pace and managed to overtake Cortese. I felt better and better and was able to catch up with Aegerter, Marquez and Folger. It's a shame this 11th place because I could have entered the top 10.
But let's look on the bright side. The weekend started very badly and with the team, we managed to correct things. Already in the warm up, the sensations were good. I was very happy with my chassis and I was able to attack.
The next GP will be in Germany. I will have to put emotions aside. The conditions are not the same as in 2015. This track suits me very well, but above all I must try to stay in the same dynamic as this weekend. »
