At the Ricardo Tormo Circuit located not far from the city of Valencia, radiant sunshine awaited Loris Baz and the Avintia Racing team to compete in the final qualifying rounds of the 2016 season.

Author of the 6th time in Q1, Loris Baz will start from 16th position on the starting grid on Sunday. The Frenchman took advantage of the last free practice session to work on his racing pace and define his choice of tires.

Confident with the soft tires front and rear, he hopes to be able to close the season with a few points and thus forget the problems and injuries encountered this year. At the end of this last meeting of the calendar, the Ducati rider could concentrate on the 2017 season which will kick off on Tuesday on the same Valencia circuit.

“The rhythm is coming back, but it’s still complicated. We still have some problems. Nevertheless, I managed to do my best qualification in the dry in a while. Little by little, I am moving up the rankings.

I rode with the soft front tire and I'm gradually regaining confidence. I'm still missing a lot of track time, I need to do a lot of laps. What I managed to do today is already very good and I'm quite satisfied. For tomorrow, I am moving towards the choice of soft at the front and at the rear. Everything will depend on the temperatures. If it's cooler, the hard back is an option.

For the race, the objective will be to score as many points as possible. I will try to get a good start and start in the right group. I would like to finish this 2016 season on a good note before thinking about 2017.”
