After an opening day dedicated to discovering the legendary Assen Circuit aboard the Desmosedici GP15, difficult weather conditions awaited Loris Baz and the Reale Avintia Racing team before qualifying.

Faced with a wet track, the French driver was not able to save his place directly in Q2 during the third free practice session. However, he said he was convinced of being able to do well by securing one of the two places available in Q1.

At the front until the checkered flag, Loris Baz finally lost with a time of 1'47.234, less than a tenth of the prize. Qualified in 14th position on the grid, the Haut-Savoyard nevertheless feels ready for the race at the end of which he intends to score important points.

Loris Baz (14th):

“I had a good feeling this morning in the wet. Despite a small fall at the end of the session, everything went well and I felt comfortable riding my Ducati. During qualifying, the grip was not at all the same. I almost made a mistake several times, but I still managed to stay at the front. I really tried everything on my last lap to get the best time. I had a two-tenths lead, but the rear slipped away... It's a shame, I missed Q2 by a few hundredths. My feelings are good and that remains the most important thing. The weather also looks difficult for the race, but I think we are ready, whatever the conditions. We have a few things to evaluate in the warm-up in the dry. We have a fast pace and I'm sure we can score many points. »
