While the first two races of the Malaysian Grand Prix were held in mild weather, the dreaded rain finally entered the program shortly before the start of the MotoGP event. Comfortable in these precarious conditions, Loris Baz was determined to end the overseas tour on a good note.

After taking advantage of the setup lap to get his bearings on a wet track, the Frenchman made the choice on the grid to fit his Ducati Desmosedici GP15 with a soft tire at the rear. A strategy which paid off since he was already in eighth place after four loops. Unfortunately, after this dazzling comeback, he was trapped a few moments later at turn 7.

Despite this outcome, which was unpredictable to say the least, the Haut-Savoyard said he was delighted to have finally been able to compete against some of his opponents, including Valentino Rossi. He is now heading to Valencia, the last round of the calendar, with once again the objective of scoring a good result.

Loris Baz (Fall) :

“In the set-up round, I immediately noticed that there was going to be no miracle. I almost fell several times. On the grid, we therefore decided to put the bike on the softest tire, knowing that the race was going to be difficult. We took the risk: I preferred to have fun moving up the rankings rather than suffering over the distance of the event. It worked well. I had a good start and was able to gain 11 places in the first round. I was able to fight against Rossi, it was nice. Little by little, I started to lose a little grip on the right side. I pushed a little too much forward and widened the trajectory. I downshifted a gear to avoid shooting straight, but as I insisted, I crashed. I prefer to finish like this after having had fun than to come last. I was able to compete against Rossi with fairings, I had fun. The results of the tour are mixed, because we saw that everyone had progressed while it was more difficult for us. We had a good performance in Motegi and we had a very good start to the race in Sepang. We will try to score points in Valencia to conclude my years in MotoGP as best as possible. »
