2016 marks an important milestone for Lucio Cecchinello and the LCR Honda team. Three anniversaries are to be welcomed this month of March: the 30 years of career of the former driver and team manager, the 20rd anniversary of the team in the World Championship and the 10 years of presence of the structure in the MotoGP category with Honda.

It was in March 1986 at the age of 17 that Lucio made his appearance for the very first time on the circuits when he officiated as a mechanic on the Italian Honda NS 125 Trophy.

Ten years later, the LCR team (Lucio Cecchinello Racing) was born, which officially participated in its first Grand Prix on March 29, 1996 in Malaysia on the Shah Alam circuit in the 125cc category.

Over the years, team manager and standard-bearer Lucio Cecchinello was joined by motorsport talents like Nobby Ueda, Roberto Locatelli, Alex De Angelis, Mattia Pasini, Casey Stoner, Randy De Puniet and David Checa.

After definitively ending his career as a professional driver in 2003, Lucio made the decision to devote himself exclusively to his role as team manager. His incessant work and determination ended up being rewarded since the LCR team had the opportunity in 2006 to brilliantly make its debut in the premier category thanks to the talented Australian Casey Stoner who rode for the first time on March 26 on the handlebars of his Honda RC211V n°27 in LCR colors on the Jerez de la Frontera track in Spain.

In the following seasons, many other great champions such as Randy De Puniet, Carlos Checa, Toni Elias, Stefan Bradl, Jack Miller and Cal Crutchlow (current driver of the LCR team) were the spearheads of the LCR structure.

To date, the LCR team has taken part in more than 550 Grands Prix, achieving 74 podiums in three different categories.

Today, March 29, 2016, for his 20thrd anniversary, the team is happy to unveil its new logo which features the historic colors of the LCR team (red, black, white and gold). The graphics of the three letters of the team have also been renewed and reinforced by a sign with a very specific value: the latter is in fact intended to symbolize, in a stylized form, the winged goddess of the Victory of Samothrace.

Lucio Cecchinello (LCR Honda Team Manager): “Since 1986, I have come a long way with the LCR team and this anniversary fills me with enormous pride. The world of racing is an integral part of my life and remains an incredible passion. Each day that passes, all my colleagues and I give our all to strengthen and grow the LCR team. I was lucky to be able to get involved in a sensational sport and to cooperate with real talents. There were obviously good times and bad times but I never thought about stopping. The support of my family first of all, then the support of my colleagues as well as that of my partners have always strengthened my motivation. If I look back, I really can’t imagine a life without racing.”
