The 2018 motorcycle season at Le Mans is actively preparing! So on Saturday January 6, within the Bugatti circuit, a first training session to become a track marshal during the endurance, speed and motocross events was organized. Set up by the FFM and provided by ASM ACO trainers, this training guarantees the skills of the officials in charge of controlling and managing the events. Successful completion of this test allows you to become, from the first year, a trainee track marshal for motorcycle competitions including the 24 Heures Motos, on April 21 and 22. An essential step for the ACO teams in their preparations for the season ahead.

Without a track marshal, no event. It's as simple and essential as that. Their role is essential for the smooth running of motorsport events. These volunteers, passionate about the competition, are the first relays of the race management on the ground.
Led by Rémy Auvray and Stéphane Houdayer, league trainers licensed at the ASM ACO (Motorcycling Sports Association of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest), this first session of 2018 welcomed 10 applicants for the title of track commissioner trainee for motorcycle events.
The trainees, all beginners except three who were already car commissioners, had previously received official documents from the FFM (French Motorcycling Federation) to know and master. After a reminder of the rules for organizing a motorcycle event and safety, then a new presentation of the responsibilities of officials and organizers as well as a review of the flags used in racing, the 10 candidates answered the 52 questions of the test.
Having all successfully passed their exam, each of them will now be able to join the teams of marshals for motorcycle events, whether on speed or endurance circuits, or even in motocross and hill climbs, subject to being licensed. in a club.
Interns in the first year, they will discover the function from more experienced commissioners. They will be able to attend all motorcycle events in France, including those organized at Le Mans, such as the Superbike and the Coupes de France Promosport or the 24 Heures Motos (April 21 and 22). Only the French Moto Grand Prix event is not accessible to them the first year.
Like thousands of men and women, it is possible to become a track marshal from the age of 16 and live your passion for motor sports at the heart of all the events on the Le Mans circuits, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans or 24 Heures Motos. and thus take part in the legend.
To do this, simply take out a volunteer car or motorcycle track marshal's license in one of the 14 Sports Associations affiliated to the ACO and pass the exam.
The next training at Le Mans to become a motorcycle track marshal will take place on February 17.
