Michelin and the MotoGP™ paddock are in Montmeló, near Barcelona, Spain, for the seventh round of the season, the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya, at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya.

This modern complex is considered one of the most beautiful circuits and one of everyone's favorites due to its altitude difference, its fast curves and its long straight line of more than a kilometer, all spread over 4,627 km . The Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya was resurfaced and reconfigured in 2018, and the race distance reduced. These significant changes have reset the counters in terms of records, which gives Michelin the opportunity to improve them this weekend. This is of course Michelin's aim and the range of Michelin Power Slicks has been carefully defined for this highly abrasive track to offer drivers and manufacturers optimum performance for their respective packages. The front and rear slicks will be offered in the usual soft, medium and hard versions, the soft and medium front tires will be symmetrical, while the hard front and all rears will be asymmetrical with a harder compound on the right, to cope on the eight turns that go in this direction, compared to only six on the left.

Despite generally mild weather at this time of year, the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya can still be irrigated by showers. The MICHELIN Power Rain are available in soft and medium, the rears also being asymmetrical with a harder right side.

Located on the outskirts of Barcelona, in Montmeló, this circuit offers great fights and spectacular overtaking to the approximately 100 spectators gathered in the huge stands around the track. Before the main race, this audience of connoisseurs and enthusiasts settles in from the first laps of the wheel scheduled for Friday June 000 with two free practice sessions. Further sessions will be held the following day before qualifying in the afternoon. The race will start on Sunday June 14 at 16:14 p.m. and the Michelin tires will then aim to offer the best grip and consistency throughout the 00 turns negotiated over the 3336 laps and 24 km of racing.

Piero Taramasso – Michelin Motorsport Two-Wheel Manager:

“It’s a circuit that puts a lot of strain on the tires and the bikes as a whole, which is why this Grand Prix has become an important event in the season and one of the most beautiful races. It's a mix of turns, long straights, quite severe on the right shoulder of the tire. You need versatile products. It can also be very hot, so the rubber must work under high temperatures. Last year, the track was resurfaced and from the race weekend to Monday testing, we were able to collect a lot of data which we used to define the best range for this year. It's a race that fans and drivers love, the atmosphere is always excellent. This year, we have the opportunity to beat our own records set in 2018. We are confident because we have more information and we know what to expect.”
