The German Grand Prix marks the mid-season mark of the 2016 MotoGP World Championship and the LCR Honda team is full of excitement that this event could be a successful round for their British rider Cal Crutchlow.

The Coventry native has already performed well in the past on the tortuous Sachsenring circuit, having reached the podium in 2013 and recorded a solid performance there, taking seventh place last year for the team. LCR Honda despite a heavy fall during qualifying.

After a two-week break without racing which allowed Cal Crutchlow to carry out tests in Malaysia for Honda and Michelin, the 30-year-old driver and his team are now eager to build on the progress made during previous Grands Prix even if the Briton made a mistake at the end of June on a wet track in the Netherlands -Down.

Cal Crutchlow: “I'm already looking forward to racing here in Germany because the Sachsenring is really a circuit that I like to drive on and which suits my driving style quite well. I also obtained some honorable results there after good races in previous years. So I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel, hoping that the Honda will be more competitive here than in the last Grand Prix.”

“I can't hide my excitement at the idea of trying to face the leaders in the category after a disappointing event in the Netherlands. It will also have been a disappointment for a good number of drivers so I think that many competitors are aiming to redeem themselves on Sunday by posting a good performance.”

“We went to Sepang with the HRC, and my chief mechanic Beefy (Christophe Bourguignon) was also with us but we mainly did tests for Michelin to try new elements that they had brought in compared to the new coating. I had the feeling that their new tires were going in the right direction but the track had some issues with water seeping out even though the ambient temperature was around 40°C. We completed what we had to do and we even had the opportunity to test some new electronic solutions for Honda which proved satisfactory. It was gratifying to carry out tests directly for this manufacturer because it is a sign of confidence that they place in me to develop their machines. During the days in Malaysia things went pretty well and we were able to provide them with concrete information.”
