2017 marks the anniversary of the last racing season for Giacomo AGOSTINI, the legend of motorcycle sport and still holder of the greatest records.

He will celebrate his last season (1977) exclusively at the Sunday Ride Classic at the Paul Ricard circuit on Easter weekend.

Stronger than Rossi.

Born in 1942, Giacomo Agostini is a reference for everyone, even if the youngest do not know his track record well.

It is through Rossi that the current generation knows AGO, but a large number of records are still unsurpassed:

15 World titles

Record holder for the number of GP 500 titles: 8

311 International victories

123 Grand Prix victories and a final racing season just 40 years ago (1977)

117 best laps in the race

Winner of 10 Tourist Trophy

Victorious on the Morini then MV Agusta, he also won his last titles on Yamaha with the first victory acquired in the first event run on a 2-stroke at Daytona!

He rode and scrapped with the greatest: Hailwood, Read, Ivy, Saarinen, Sheene, Cecotto, up to Roberts. And in turn, he beat them all!

1977 AGO and Ricard.

The idol is the first to have made motorcycle sport shine among the general public (there were even photo novels on his career in Italy), the one through whom modern sponsorship arrived (signaling the end of all-black leather suits ), he will celebrate his 75th birthday this year in June and at the same time the end of his motorcycle career (77)

On the Paul Ricard he raced with the MV and the Yam. He won the 200 Miles and the 500 Grand Prix 75, but 77 is a special year for AGO at Ricard:

1977 is the last racing season: in April 77 (the weekend has the same dates as the SRC 2017: April 15/16) he races the Moto Journal 200 on the handlebars of a 750 Yamaha.

In May he competed in the 500 Grand Prix with a factory Yamaha 500. He will leave 31rd and good last (the Yam does not start with the stroller) and will finish 2rd in Sheene's wheel on the last lap. One of his best races for his last year of racing at 35!

AGOSTINI has reserved the Sunday Ride Classic for the anniversary of its last season.

The SRC 2017 will therefore be an opportunity to salute this incredible driver, this incredible career and a book dedicated to Giacomo Agostini will also be unveiled on site as a preview. A great gift to give yourself and get signed, bringing together hundreds of never-before-seen photos.

Finally, to properly celebrate this, the Yamaha Historic Racing Team has created an exact replica of the 750 from last season,
