Cal Crutchlow gave a very positive impression during the two days of testing which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday in Austria. The Spielberg circuit will indeed host a new event on the MotoGP World Championship calendar in August just after the summer break. The LCR team driver took the opportunity to familiarize himself with this little-known track.

The 30-year-old Briton will have completed a total of 86 laps over the two days, collecting a relatively large amount of data and information which will not only be useful to his own team but also to the Honda factory drivers who were not not present during these tests. In fact, the Coventry native, who had made the decision to end his testing around two hours before the track closed, held the lead for a large part of the afternoon after setting his time. the fastest in 1'24.455.

This time was improved at the very end of the day and Cal Crutchlow was finally credited with 10rd time this Wednesday while Ducati rider Andrea Iannone took the lead on the timesheet.

Cal Crutchlow #35 – 1'24.455 (10th Wednesday – 11th overall over the two days)

“We arrived here in a very good state of mind after being on the podium at the German Grand Prix. The day went relatively well today and satisfaction prevails with the progress made throughout these tests. We managed to collect all the data Honda needed as well as a wealth of information for our technical team.”

“We worked in a positive atmosphere and I was pleasantly surprised by the times we were able to achieve as well as the best time we achieved. Ultimately, we will still have a lot of details to fine-tune to be competitive during the race weekend, but overall we are happy at the end of these two days.”

“We will now be able to enjoy the summer break and a few weeks of rest but I am already looking forward to coming back here to Austria in three weeks for the Grand Prix.”
