After a positive first day, Loris Baz confirmed Friday at the Losail circuit, and for good reason! From the final free practice session, the French driver climbed to seventh in the hierarchy, seven tenths of the benchmark.

At ease in Superpole, Loris Baz managed to qualify in fifth position. From the second row on the grid, the Frenchman, who is still suffering from pain due to his heavy falls in San Juan, somewhat missed his start. But it didn't take long for him to find his rhythm again to catch up.

If he managed to get rid of Toprak Razgatlioglu, Haut-Savoyard had to give up its arms in the face of Michael van der Mark and settle for seventh place when he takes the checkered flag, allowing him to gain a position overall. He is now 11th, just five points from the Top 10.

Loris Baz (Race 1 – 7th): “It was a very good day! I started with a good FP3 and managed to confirm in Superpole by setting the fifth time. This is very positive, because qualifications are not our strong point. I expected better in the race. I lost a lot of places at the start and encountered some difficulties on the first two laps. I had to change my maps and it had nothing to do with the previous sessions. We are the only ones to run slower in the evening than in the afternoon. I think the humidity has something to do with it. We will try to understand for tomorrow. I fought against myself the whole race. I was a little over a second behind the group in front of me. I managed to close the gap little by little. I overtook Toprak when he made a mistake. I finally finished seventh, first independent driver. We are far from what we were aiming for, namely the podium, but we do not have the same pace in the evening. We will try to do better on Sunday. Also, physically, I suffered a lot. I don't think I wasted any time for that reason...but I had to grit my teeth. We'll see tomorrow ! »
