It was a splendid day for the members of the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team on the Brno circuit for this resumption of the MotoGP World Championship.
Indeed, Johann zarco outperformed his opponents during FP1 which took place on a wet track, while Jonas Folger confirmed the level reached during his home Grand Prix by placing second in FP2 this afternoon in the dry.
These results are all the more convincing as they are accompanied by a top 10 for the young German driver in the morning, as well as a very good fourth position for the Frenchman Johann Zarco after lunch.
Far ahead of the official Yamaha riders, the rookies of the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team are getting off to the best possible start this weekend in the Czech Republic, and will be keen to continue their momentum tomorrow.
The day before, Jonas Folger had participated in a JetSurf activity, in the company of Cal Crutchlow, Karel Abraham, Franco Morbidelli, Tom Luthi, Mattia Pasini, Enea Bastianini et Jakub Kornfeil.
Jonas Folger, 2nd, 1'56.730, 27 laps: “It's really a great feeling to get back on my Yamaha after the long summer break, and we had a positive first day, especially this afternoon. At the start of FP2, the conditions being mixed, we didn't have much time to ride before the end of the session, but we were finally able to do a lot of laps on the same tire and build up a good feeling . We did this without any major changes to the bike due to lack of time before the session ended, but we were still able to set a solid time. So we are all ready for tomorrow and we are eager to continue, after this first positive day. »
