Aside from what we consider to be a mistake in choosing his timing for changing bikes, Valentino Rossi had what can be considered a good weekend in the Czech Republic.

This Monday, during the official IRTA test day, the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider certainly took to the track relatively late, "usually I don't like Monday tests", but undoubtedly motivated by what he was trying, stayed until the last second to claim the best time.

The Doctor completed a total of 52 laps, achieving a time of 1'55.162s in his penultimate lap, 1.930s faster than his fastest time in yesterday's race, but very slightly slower than his qualifying time in 1'55.073.

Valentino Rossi : “It's been a long, long time since I was in first place on Monday, because I usually don't like Monday tests: it's one of the difficult things about my job (laughs). I'm happy with this test, because it took place right after the weekend during which I was comfortable, whatever the conditions. I'm happy to finish on top, because that hasn't happened in a while! In itself, this is not important, because only the attempts count, but it is no less satisfying.

Of all the things, we tried the fairing and it is good. I have a good feeling but it will depend on the circuits. For example, I don't think that in Austria a fairing like this is very important.

I also like the fork, because it helps with changes of direction; the bike is lighter and easier, so it's a good option. »

Massimo Meregalli : “After yesterday's race, it was good to have more time on a dry track to do the few tests that we didn't have time to do during the weekend. Vale tried out the new fairing, the Öhlins carbon fork and a few other bits. There were positive and negative points, but overall, the pilots' feelings were very positive. Valentino made a big move today, which resulted in him setting the fastest time of the session. The engineers will review all the data we have collected and prepare for the next steps. It's been a very busy first week after the summer holidays, so we are now fully warmed up again and ready to go to Spielberg for the next race in Austria. »
