The second day of testing at the Sepang international circuit ended with something of a feat for the Octo Pramac Yakhnich team as Danilo Petrucci managed to maintain the best time in the field until the checkered flag.

After finishing in 4th position yesterday, behind no less than Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa, the Italian rider demonstrated that his talent had nothing to envy of the development of his astonishing Ducati GP15 which seems to benefit fully of the work carried out last year between the Borgo Panigale manufacturer and the Magneti Marelli factory.

Danilo Petrucci did an excellent job taking advantage of his soft tires during the morning by setting a time of 2.00.095 (the best time in the combined standings of the two days of testing), thereby lowering the time by 60 thousandths of a second. best lap recorded by Jorge Lorenzo the day before. A time that no one could beat after the accident, fortunately without consequences, which happened to Loris Baz and Michelin's decision to suspend the use of soft tires as a precaution.

Danilo Petrucci : " I am happy with this result. We were quick and we made the best of the situation, considering what happened to Loris Baz. It is nice to define the fastest time even if, obviously, it is not entirely representative. However, finishing the day in first place gives me a lot of satisfaction, as does the team who did a brilliant job. During the afternoon, I was not able to go as quickly as I hoped and this remains an important objective that we will try to achieve tomorrow. Improvements? Yes, compared to Monday, we have made progress. Confidence in the bike and tires is improving and electronics are also progressing. But we are still far from the top drivers: tomorrow we will try to get closer. »
