Moto2 electronics and accessories specifications have been confirmed.

Sporting regulations – with immediate effect

Insurance for wild cards

Wild card drivers will now be covered by the insurance provided by IRTA and will no longer need to take out insurance from their national federation for the event in question. They will thus benefit from the same level of coverage as pilots hired year-round.

In certain events, the same category may be represented in different Championships. A driver will no longer be allowed to compete in more than one Championship per weekend.

Others

Display and message on the dashboard

It has already been confirmed that machines in the Moto3 and MotoGP categories must be equipped with dashboards allowing the display of messages as well as current warning lights from 2018. This regulation will also apply to the Moto2 category but from 2019. The Grand Prix Commission has also confirmed a precise list of messages which will be sent by the Race Direction, as well as the warning lights.

Some teams have already installed a dashboard on their motorcycles to receive messages and, following approval from the Safety Commission, the Grand Prix Commission has confirmed that these teams could already use this tool as a “virtual traffic sign”. ". This does not require any amendment to existing regulations.

Official suppliers

The Grand Prix Commission has confirmed the following brands as official suppliers:

Triumph will equip the Moto2 category with engines from 2019.

Dell'Orto Spa will supply the ECU software for Moto3 from 2018 to 2020.

HRC request

The Grand Prix Commission approved the request from HRC which, for safety reasons, wanted to replace the inlet valve on its Moto3 engines, following a manufacturing defect which led to cracks. This change will be made under the supervision of the Technical Management and the engines concerned will be limited to a total use of 2 km.
