Lucas Mahias and Jules Cluzel set the second and third fastest times in qualifying behind Kenan Sofuoglu. For the sixth round of the Supersport World Championship, it is the first time this year that the two Frenchmen will start from the front row.
Mahias was actually very close to pole position with a time of 1'30.971, compared to 1'30.904 for Sofuoglu, a gap of only 0.06. Cluzel ranked third at 0.5, ahead of the two Triumph Daytona 675s of Briton Stapleford and Irishman Kennedy.
According to Lucas Mahias « This is a very small gap. I gave my best to get pole position, but the track was different compared to Friday. It was warmer, whereas today the temperatures had dropped significantly. It was also difficult to improve our settings during the third free practice session due to the rain. It was a strange day, but I'm very satisfied because I improved my time from the day before. I will start from second place and that is a good thing for the race. »
It was a good operation for Lucas Mahias, leader of the World Championship with 85 points, ahead of Sheridan Morais with 58, Patrick Jacobsen with 55 and Kenan Sofuoglu with 50. Jules cluzel is in sixth position with 39 points.
The Donington World Supersport Championship race will take place on Sunday at midday UK time, 13pm French time.
Furthermore, in Superstock 1000, Florian Marino will also start from the front row, having set the third time behind Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Roberto Tamburini. Race at 14:15 p.m. French time.
