Andrea Iannone's positive doping test case continues to unfold. It will be recalled that following the analysis of a sample taken from the Aprilia official during the last Malaysian Grand Prix, a prohibited product was detected, leading to a provisional suspension of the rider by the FIM. Andrea Iannone is the first MotoGP competitor to be put in the hot seat. But motorcycle sport has already seen other cases.

Doping in the world of motorcycle racing is not unknown, but it remains exceptional. This time, however, it is the top of the basket with MotoGP which is concerned. Andrea Iannone will go down in history as the first identified case, which does not mean that he is guilty. To get there, you will have to wait for the current procedure to end.

In the other motorcycle categories, the names ofAnthony West, Noriyuki Haga, Anthony Gobert, James Stewart et Broc Tickle have already appeared in terms of positive doping controls. The first mentioned was even blacklisted twice. The first in 2013 when he received an 18-month suspension after a stimulant called methylhexaneamine was detected in his system. The Australian was then in Moto2. In 2018, we found him implicated while driving in Supersport at Misano.

The same year, he is the Supercross rider Broc Tickle which is pinned. Already in 2015, James Stewart had been sanctioned with a 16-month suspension for taking amphetamines. In 2000, it was the WSBK which was affected with Noriyuki Haga. The Japanese was suspended for a month because of ephedrine. He then explained that he had taken the substance unintentionally as a component of a dietary product.

Finally, 22 years ago there were already cases of doping and the use of harmful substances. As in the case ofAnthony Gobert who tested positive for marijuana twice. In 1997 while he was a pilot Suzuki in 500 and 1998.
