The end of the season promises to be complicated for a Ducati factory where a gloomy atmosphere seems to be setting in. The titles in both MotoGP and WSBK will not be conquered, and although we may sugarcoat the course with victories and say that we fought well, it still remains an acknowledgment of failure. On the pilots' side, a sort of fatalism betrays resignation. But there is perhaps worse: among the Reds, we are recording a flight of gray matter from the competition...

Andrea Dovizioso is not very happy MotoGP and rubs with Gigi Dall'Igna who will see, in WSBK, Alvaro Bautista leave him after only one year of presence in the Panigale V4 R project. The Spaniard had a dream start to the season before stalling, then signing for an adventure to be discovered at Honda. For the Spaniard, the atmosphere is such that he is forced to convince that he is not a traitor...

More Gigi Dall'Igna has other reasons to be angry. Let its pilots grumble or leave the ship, so be it. But for his engineers to leave with the experience and know-how acquired at home is more annoying. We know that the Italian does not appreciate the flight of Marco Frigerio. This Italian electronics engineer has worked for several years at Borgo Panigale and is currently collaborating with Jack Miller. He has experience in Superbike and MotoGP. In particular, he knows all the secrets of Magneti Marelli hardware and software. And he will serve the cause Yamaha .

The same Gigi Dall'Igna must now face the defection of Giulio Nava, the chief engineer of Baptist, which will follow its pilot at Honda. In Superbike, the Italian brand has used numerous technologies derived from MotoGP. In WSBK, the electronics are free: control unit, inertial unit and associated control software... Ducati is at the top in this sector, but not only that. Even in terms of aerodynamics, the V4 R is clearly ahead of its rivals. It is the first Superbike to have introduced fins. However, the super CBR-RR, according to rumors, will be equipped with aerodynamic appendages, including mobile ones.

All this happens at the moment when Ducati is working on its 2020 version of its machine. The Italian brand will therefore have to do everything to hide, as far as possible, the latest developments. The priority of Ducati is now to hide the secrets from the future men who are going to compete but who are still working in the pits. A challenge that will not be easy to live with on a daily basis between now and the end of this season.
