Starting from his sixteenth position with morale at half mast, Andrea Iannone was first of all on fire with a convincing start to the Grand Prix. Arriving in a good sixth place, he then stopped dead, sliding down to ninth position. Frustrating, but this performance gave clear indications to the Suzuki engineers who thanked him for this two-step performance.

Andrea Iannone said that he was there to lead and not solve problems. But it is thanks to its management that the answers to the concerns arrive. At least that's what emerges from the results of this meeting in Assen. A summary from the technical manager, Ken Kawauchi : " we certainly cannot be satisfied with a ninth place for Andrea and a seventeenth for Alex Rins. But not compared to previous races, this one was positive ».

The Japanese explains why: “ Andrea is making great efforts given the situation. Thanks to him, we now have a very clear vision of our problem. With the new tires, we are performing at a good level, but when their performance drops, it affects us too significantly. This race was excellent for our development. So thank you Andrea ».

The latter replied “ the first part of the race was very positive and I was able to climb from my starting position to the top of the top 10. I then had a good pace, quite close to the leading men. But the grip started to become precarious and this dramatically affected our GSX-RR. It is no longer as effective as I would like it to be. But we have learned some things and when we have sorted them out, we will be closer to our opponents ».

The teammate alex rins has for his part reached the finish, but out of the points and hindering Petrucci in his final battle with Rossi for victory. Kidneys did not fail to apologize to the Pramac Ducati rider…
