In the second qualifying session, Dovi was ahead in the first two sections, but unfortunately he fell in the third. His ninth time will allow him to start this Sunday from the third row of the starting grid.

Dovi's Dutch weekend started off in an unpleasant way with his Ducati's engine breaking at the start of the first free practice session, spilling oil which caused his teammate Jorge Lorenzo to crash. After FP1 stopped at the red flag and a long cleaning of the track, the session resumed and Dovi was awarded fourth position, 0.149 behind leader Danilo Petrucci and just a hundredth ahead. Valentino Rossi.

The afternoon was just as prolific with the fourth performance for Dovi, 0.660 behind Maverick Vinales. He was the only Ducati rider in the top six, accompanied only in the top 10 by Danilo Petrucci seventh and Alvaro Bautista ninth,

Saturday morning gave Andrea the opportunity to experience the GP17 in the wet at Assen. Obviously, when you are second in the World Championship, taking risks for nothing is not a priority and he ranked twelfth, while having carefully prepared his machine for the qualifying session.

During the qualifying session, Andrea unfortunately fell and his machine only restarted with great difficulty. He finally managed to return to the pits but too late to hope for a good performance. He had to settle for ninth fastest.

According to Andrea Dovizioso, “ For some reason today we couldn't find the feeling we normally get with the Desmosedici in wet conditions.

“Then, during qualifying, I made a mistake and crashed, which obviously affected my grid position. The team was great getting the other bike together though, and I was able to do two laps with it and improve my grid position a bit.

“Tomorrow it will be important to make the most of the warm up to try to improve the configuration of the bike, but in any case, I think we can have a good race. »
