The Englishman from the Pramac team stood out on Saturday morning during the third free practice session by setting the best time in the wet. But in the combined classification he only occupied fifteenth position, and he therefore had to go through Q1 to hope to continue. Never mind, the Briton achieved the best time in this Q1 and happily qualified for Q2.

This Q2 would prove to be full of emotion with a fall, followed by a hasty return to the pits, to jump on his second bike and qualify in fifth position on the very last lap!

So Scott started on the second row, started well and held on to fifth place for ten laps, which was simply superb. He was then overtaken by Maverick Vinales, Andrea Dovizioso, Alvaro Bautista, Alex Espargaro, Dani Pedrosa and Jack Miller, which meant he found himself in eleventh position on the seventeenth lap.

While Zarco changed bikes, Redding passed Pedrosa and Espargaro again, moving up to seventh place just ahead of Loris Baz with two laps remaining. It was then that he fell and ruined his chances of equaling his best result of the year which was a seventh place obtained in Qatar.

According to Scott Redding, “ After a very good start, in the first laps the race pace was excellent.

“Then I started to lose feeling especially with the front tire which suddenly started to drop. When it started to rain, I thought things might get better, but I didn't find the benefits I expected.

“I'm so sorry for the crash on the last lap, but I have to admit it was a good weekend, especially after the big problem we had on Friday. »
