After a difficult start to the season, without the slightest point scored in Qatar, Argentina and Texas, the driver of the Kalex of the Italtrans Racing Team came out of his box like a devil to win the Italian Grand Prix, then finish second in Barcelona. He crossed the finish line this Sunday in Assen in third position.

He was quickly demoted to fourth place for having cut the last chicane, the third step of the podium being awarded to Takaaki Nakagami.

The only problem with this decision was that the Japanese had slammed into the Italian (pictured above), and Pasini had no space available to turn normally, therefore being forced to cut the chicane (photo below).

The decision of the Race Direction to demote him therefore pleased him moderately, even if he accepted it.

On Sunday evening, Mattia Pasini declared “I am very happy because after a weekend which was not easy due to the weather conditions, on Sunday we were very strong. We had an excellent race and I fought for victory until the end.

“At mid-distance, I made a mistake in shifting, which caused me to lose contact with the main group, but I managed to compensate and rejoin them.

“As for the last round, I respect the Commission's decision, although I do not share it. I'm sorry not to be on the podium, but these are the races. We will do better next weekend in Germany. »

Then someone persuaded him to adopt a more diplomatic wording, and to remove what could have been seen as criticism. Pasini therefore reformulated his statement the next day in “I'm sorry for the last argument. Race Direction made a correct decision. »
