The wet track of Assen always accompanies the MotoGP riders who entered, in this Q.2, the final for the best places on the starting grid of this edition of the Dutch Grand Prix. Redding and Lowes, out of Q.1, had relaunched their career plan by joining a top 10 already in place since Friday. Now was the moment of truth.
A reminder of the situation before the rest of the events…

Before starting, it was good to remind Jorge Lorenzo already anchored at the twenty-first block of the starting grid... The disappointed expression of Davide Tardozzi in the stands foreshadowed a particularly lively debriefing in the Ducati stand…
We will also remember that Vinales had not put a tire out during FP4. How was he going to approach this Batavian track only recognized this morning? Finally, was the sky going to act up again?…

It is Valentino Rossi which showed the voice in 1'48.856 before Danilo Petrucci does not respond in 1'47.721. Marc Marquez counterattacked but missed his target by seven thousandths. Enough to motivate the Italian a little more at the Ducati Pramac who took a little breath in 1'47.349. Pedrosa was then last by almost... seven seconds. But it was less worse than Dovizioso who was falling!

Petrucci drove the point home and held the tottering house of Borgo Panigale in 1'47.176. It was more than three tenths better than Red while the teammate Redding, fifth behind Zarco, was making a mistake.
Two minutes from the goal, Marc Marquez set the bar at 1'46.847 and Sam Lowes the engine of his Aprilia exploded. Johann zarco held the last block of the first line behind Red. But it was said that Petrucci wouldn't let it count. 1'46.526 was his best time in the final minute.
In the final seconds, Johann zarco achieved the feat in 1'46.141. He was ahead Marquez et Petrucci. Next Red, Redding et Folger. The third line will consist of Baptist, Lowes et Vinales, only eleventh behind another disappointed: Dovizioso. Crutchlow et Pedrosa were also below their expectations.
