Barely getting off his Yamaha M1 from the Tech3 team, the poleman of this TT Assen, Johann zarco, spoke to Eurosport about the joy of being the first Frenchman in pole position in the premier category since 2002 and Oliver Jacque (already Tech3!).

Congratulations on this first pole position in MotoGP! What do you feel ?

" It is enormous ! It's awesome ! Complicated conditions, but I think that FP4, the last free session, we had drying, almost dry, then heavy rain or even hail, and each time I tried to go out on track to really get my bearings and familiarize myself with the bike. And there, on this qualifying, the track was drying. I thought about going back to change the tire but it's still difficult to return to the pits when there are only 15 minutes left. For a moment I slowed down to let the tires cool down and it worked, because afterwards I found good grip again. And then, these are conditions that I like: I have won several times in Moto2. It's awesome ! At the end, I was scared because I saw Petrucci, I was waiting, I was waiting, I was waiting, and in the end he didn't go past. It's great ! As I said, you have to start on the first two rows to give yourself a chance for the podium. There, it's pole position so it's all good and I'm going to try to aim for the podium tomorrow to take points and enjoy myself. »

Did you think the last lap was the right one?

“I did better. Afterwards, when I saw the time, because we had left it on the bike because in conditions like that it is better to know where you are, I saw 46.1 and that I was first. But afterward, you have to be careful because they are all capable of going very, very fast. But ultimately, it was my conditions and I like it. »
