The next season of the FIM Endurance World Championship will feature a brand new 8-hour round at the prestigious Sepang International Circuit, the first edition of which will take place in mid-December in Malaysia.

The 2019-2020 FIM EWC season will begin with the Gold bowl on September 21 on the French circuit of Castellet.

The second round of the championship is a new winter race in Southeast Asia, initiated as part of a calendar reform by championship promoter Eurosport Events. The inaugural edition of the Sepang 8 Hours, the result of close collaboration between the FIM, Eurosport Events, Sepang International Circuit and Mobilityland, will be a qualifying round for the 8 Suzuka 2020 Hours. Its innovative format lays the foundations for the very first two-headed event in Asian motorsport, with two major car and motorcycle races taking place in a single weekend: The 8 Hours of Sepang on Saturday 14 December 2019 and the FIA WTCR/OSCARO season finale on Sunday 15 December.

The 43nd edition of 24 Hours Motorcycles, traditionally organized in Le Mans in mid-April, and the 8 Hours of Oschersleben the first weekend of June, will take place halfway through the FIM EWC calendar.

The sleeve of Suzuka 8 Hours, the grand final of the FIM Endurance World Championship, will be brought forward to mid-July, exceptionally, for the first time in its history. “ The Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hour Endurance Race has a long history of 42 years” explains Kaoru Tanaka, the new President of Mobilityland. “This is the final round of the FIM World Endurance Championship, which traditionally takes place on the last Sunday in July. For 2020, we have decided to bring the event forward so that it precedes the opening of the Tokyo Olympic Games. Now scheduled for July 19, the Suzuka 8 Hour race will have the eyes of the world on Japan ahead of the Tokyo Olympics. Come join us for a beautiful end to the season in July 2020.”
