It was very cool and the wind was blowing strong this morning at eight o'clock local time when the start of the 12 Hours of Estoril was given.

Marvin Fritz, in pole position, had difficulty starting the Yamaha #7 of YART, which took advantage of Mike Di Meglio to start in the lead on the #5 FCC TSR Honda France, before being briefly overtaken by Gregg Black on Suzuki #2 of SERT.
On the cold track, all the drivers started cautiously and stayed together, with the exception of Markus Reiterberger who escaped on the handlebars of BMW Motorrad #37.
Louis Rossi, in the leading group on the #6 Ducati ERC-Endurance, fell and seriously damaged his machine less than 10 minutes after the start of the race, leading to the probable abandonment of the beautiful Italian: The 12-hour event is underway !
