As soon as the publication of program for the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, some teams had expressed to us their concerns about the ultra-busy weekend that was planned for them. Indeed, all the tests were concentrated on a Friday ending at 23 p.m. before starting the warmup on Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m. for a 24-hour race starting at 14 p.m.

Yesterday evening, while lightening the Friday program as best as possible and eliminating the Saturday morning warmup, the FIM explained the situation in these terms.

« We have received some comments and concerns regarding the provisional schedule for the 24 2023H Motos de Spa.
Some teams feared that this tight schedule would cause significant fatigue for drivers and mechanics. You know that this tight schedule has been established due to the (limited) authorization granted by local authorities. We must maintain the 3 day format.
Consequently, it was decided by the FIM International Jury, the FIM Race Direction, the Belgian Motorcycling Federation (FMB) and Discovery Sport Events to adapt the program and remove the Saturday morning warm-up. The Friday program is also lighter.
However, for a 24 hour race, you understand that we cannot cancel night testing as we need to make sure everything is in place and working for the (night) race.
Attached you will find an updated program for your event which will take place from June 12 to 17!
Further information and clarifications will be provided during the briefing and through communications from the FIM International Jury and Race Direction. In the coming days, an update to the Regulations for the 2023 FIM Endurance World Championship will be carried out and distributed to you. »
