The JEG team and the experimental ITEM 17 will not be at the start of the 24 2020 Heures Motos at Le Mans. Some teams are at risk, others will be there. The situation.

Because of Covid-19, this will be an atypical edition of the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans. Behind closed doors, with restrictions on the number of personnel on each team, even with an unprecedented start time. The Sarthe Endurance marathon will try to maintain the pace of this great French motorcycle classic unchanged despite major defections on August 29-30.

For the 43rd edition of the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans, it is reasonable to expect, at best, 40 teams at the start. In addition to the already announced withdrawal of the JEG team, the experimental ITEM 17 recently confirmed that it will not be at the start of Le Mans. With Metiss, protagonist of the Experimental class, ITEM 17 had to field a multiple World Champion of the caliber of Matthieu Lagrive in the team in addition to Jacopo Cretaro (already present at the Bol d'Or). For the return, it will not necessarily be 2021, since a surprise could occur in October.

BETWEEN LE MANS AND BOL D’OR

The situation of the Tecmas team, in evidence at the 8 Hours of Sepang, is also uncertain. The team will announce what it will do in the coming days. In addition, at Le Mans, some other French teams like TRT27 and Pit Lane Endurance will be absent, which will save resources (sporting and economic) in anticipation of the Bol d'Or scheduled three weeks later.

ENERGY ENDURANCE 91 OK

Good news, on the other hand, there will be the Energie Endurance 91 team with brothers Christian and Federico Napoli in the saddle. After some doubts expressed in recent days, the team confirmed the entry for the two 24-hour events, Le Mans and the Bol d'Or, with a new addition: Martin Choy, who has been a driver in EWC FIM for several years, will replace Karel Hanika.
