The EWC paddock arrives in the Belgian Ardennes to contest the second round of its 2024 season on the famous Spa-Francorchamps track. This Friday, those entered for this 8-hour long event begin the serious things with Qualifications. After dominating Q1, the Yamaha n°1 confirms and takes pole position for the 8H of Spa.
Qualifications:
E.W.C.
After largely dominating the start of the Spa 8H weekend, Yart Yamaha naturally takes pole position for tomorrow's race. Buoyed by the exploits of Marvin Fritz, the Austrian team set a new lap record in Qualifying, after beating the lap record in free practice.
The German was truly out of reach of his opponents, and set the best time in Qualifying, all sessions combined, in 2:18.552. His teammates, Niccolo Canepa and Karel Hanika having set the best time in their respective sessions, Yart Yamaha took first place on the starting grid without being worried.
The battle for second place was however more intense, but the FCC TSR Honda France managed to stay in second position, thanks to the times of its two drivers entered this weekend.
The Yoshimura Sert Motul makes up for it after a less brilliant start to Qualifying, and completes the top-3 on the starting grid for these 8 Hours of Spa.
The #37 BMW will have done everything to stay in contact with the top-3 since the start of the weekend, sometimes managing to advance there. However, it is fourth place at the start of the race that awaits the crew.
In this way, four different brands occupy the first four positions on the starting grid, which announces a competitive race tomorrow, when the start will be given at 13:00 p.m.
Superstock
If Q1 had been dominated by Honda No Limits, Team Etoile managed to reverse the trend, to take pole position in the Superstock category with a good tenth place overall.
The men of the No. 44 will start the race from the twelfth row on the grid, while the No. 777 came between the two crews. The National Motos Honda team completes this group of four machines with the thirteenth time overall. Everything can therefore still change in the first minutes of the test between these different protagonists.
