At 9am this morning the weather improved and the teams fitted slick tires one after the other. Was the rain over or was it going to return to the Circuit Paul Ricard? Everyone was asking themselves the question and trying to gain a gap on their pursuers before the bad weather possibly started again.

Suddenly at 9:03 a.m. the Honda FCC TSR Honda France broke its engine by spilling oil, which led to the fall of the SRC Kawasaki and the YART of the leaders.

The protections at the edge of the circuit caught fire, and therefore the tires which released enormous smoke. The race was neutralized with the entry of the Safety Cars onto the track.
