There will only be one qualifying race before the 8 Suzuka 2022 Hours, while the list of 35 automatically admitted teams has been announced.

After the cancellation of the last two editions, will this year be the good one? The Suzuka 8 Hours currently remains on the calendar on August 7, but there are still logical concerns arising from the pandemic situation and associated restrictions. The Trials round ahead of Motegi scheduled for April has been canceled, while “The Race of Races” is officially not in danger. On the contrary, as is customary in recent years, the process of selecting the 65 teams expected at the start of the 43rd edition has begun. All with the now traditional Try Out.

TRY OUT
What is it about ? Basically, due to the high number of applications received, since 2017, teams interested in participating in the 8 Hours are invited to take part in several "qualifying races". With the exception of permanent FIM EWC teams, teams whose right to participate is guaranteed on the basis of their track record or those identified by the selection committee on the basis of sporting merit, all others must earn their place on the 8 hour schedule “on the ground”.

35 TEAMS ALREADY SELECTED
Although the 8 hour race had been canceled the previous two years, the Try Out was held regularly. Concretely, the right to participate was obtained by no less than 35 teams with different parameters and/or results. On the one hand based on the results of the 2019 edition, the 8 hours of Sepang of the same year, but also on the results of the Try Out events organized in 2021 at Suzuka between the All Japan and the Suzuka Sunday Road Race . In the list below, you will find the 35 teams admitted to the start of the 2022 edition.

ONLY ONE QUALIFYING RACE
While a maximum of 20 places are guaranteed for the permanent World Endurance teams and 5 others will be determined (by prize list and importance) by the selection committee, 5 places remain to be allocated “on the ground”. For this reason, Try Out 2022 will take place in a single round. Specifically in Race 1 of the All Japan Superbike at Suzuka on April 23. Among the teams interested in participating in the 8 Hours, the top 5 teams classified in this race will obtain a pass for the event.
