Closing of the official test days for the 8 Suzuka 2019 Hours in the rain, but with Red Bull Honda HRC still in the lead.

On a dry or wet track, in terms of attack time and race simulation, from the three days of official testing for the 8 Suzuka 2019 Hours an indisputable fact emerges: At the top of the lap times monitor, there is always the CBR #33. The official Red Bull Honda team monopolized the stage during the three days of activity on the legendary roller coaster track, revealing itself as the team to beat for the 42nd edition which will be held on July 28. While waiting for the race weekend, HRC can smile, but without letting down its guard: Yamaha Factory has everything to aspire to the fifth consecutive victory….

HRC SETS THE PACE
Topping the three-day list with a time of 2'05"939 on Tuesday, the Red Bull Honda HRC with Takumi Takahashi also excelled during the final day of testing at Suzuka. The rain having not stopped during all the time available, the 2017 Japanese Superbike Champion stopped the clock in 2'17"363, far distancing his most direct pursuers, the Yoshimura Suzuki (2'20"581) and the Moriwaki Honda (2'20″769), while the Yamaha Factory limited its on-track activities to the strict minimum. For HRC, this is a brilliant close to these tests, with records everywhere. Attacking the time (2'05″939), in race simulation (still below the 8 2017-hour lap record in relay, except 3 laps), and even in pit stop tests. Of course, these are only tests, but the CBR 1000RRRW #33 in Red Bull colors already seems to be the technical reference of the 2019 edition.

YAMAHA IN CONTACT
Kawasaki KRT was absent since Jonathan Rea, Leon Haslam and Toprak Razgatlioglu are racing this weekend in World Superbike at Laguna Seca, and for the same reason Yamaha Factory also took part in these tests without Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark. Together with Katsuyuki Nakasuga and “luxury reserve” Kohta Nozane, comparative tuning tests were carried out, planning strategies for the race weekend in terms of stops and consumption. Just like the HRC, the R1 dressed in the emblematic colors of TECH21 also completed 29 relay laps. Therefore, everything will be based on performance and avoiding mistakes….

GLOBAL CHALLENGE
Without the Kawasaki SRC team, leader of the EWC world championship, the FCC was present at these tests, as were the TSR Honda and the YART Yamaha as well as the Suzuki SERT. For the first two teams, the official tests provided satisfactory results to say the least, with numerous references among the first 5 alongside HARC-PRO Honda (Ryo Mizuno, Xavi Forés, Dominique Aegerter). At the YART, the fastest was Niccolò Canepa with a time of 2'07″709: A great performance at Suzuka...
