The FCC TSR Honda France team, world championendurance in 2022 and fourth in 2023, has just carried out a winter test in Okayama with its three starting riders and the 2024 version of the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade.
Apparently, according to the statements of Josh Hook, Mike Di Meglio et Alan Techer, the Honda #5 has taken a big step forward in terms of chassis, and is now much more agile than before. The development has therefore been in the right direction and most of the specifications tested during this test will be found on the machine lined up on April 20 for the first race of the 2024 EWC championship, on the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans.
Josh Hook : “Yes, we had a very positive test in Okayama. The weather was very favorable to us. I think we got a little lucky, with two solid days. There is very good sunshine. The first time I saw the new 1000 CBR 2024, it was really good. The team did an incredible job with the bike and from the first ride the bike immediately felt great. So yes, I can't wait for next season. For next season, I think we are very strong. We have a good package: a big thank you to my team. They did an amazing job preparing this bike. We know there is a lot to do, but the first impression of the new bike was a relief. You know, the engine works well, the electronics work well and I think the chassis has taken a big step forward. Compared to last year, that's the biggest thing we struggled with last year and it seems like they've improved in that area. So I'm looking forward to it. »
Mike Di Meglio : “Hello, yes this test was very good for us. We tested the new bike and compared it to the old one. A big thank you to TSR and Honda who have taken a big step forward. The bike runs very well. This is impressive compared to the old machine. So yes, we are very excited about 2024. Yes, we will fight for the title another time. »
Alan Techer : “First of all, I'm very happy to be back on the bike. I didn't know the circuit and I knew I would learn a fantastic new track. The bike is simply incredible. First of all I would like to thank Honda and TSR, who did a very good job. I put a lot of pressure on the bike and we are improving a lot. We test a lot of things. I am sure we are competitive for Le Mans and for the race, and I am very excited to start the new championship with this bike. I'm sure we can have a good season and the goal is to get back to first place. Thank you. »
Masakazu Fujii, the manager and owner of the team: “The annual Okayama winter test took place over three days, from December 13 to 15, with the participation of all three drivers. The 15th was cut short early due to heavy fog, but the previous two days were run in good conditions and with the addition of personnel from Europe, the base specifications were decided for the 2024 season. From now on, we will therefore focus our preparations on the opening race, the 24 Heures Motos. These months of January and February will be crucial based on the specifications we acquired during this test. »
