Construction work on the Endurance grandstand and stands began at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

After an exceptional year in terms of attendance at races and sporting events, the public remains the center of attention at the Circuit. It is with this in mind that a new phase of work has begun in order to offer quality infrastructure to its spectators, complementing those carried out last year.

The track season had not yet ended when work began on October 10 for the construction of the new grandstand and stands in front of the endurance stands, along the portion of the track which connects La Source to L'Eau rouge.

The stand will have 4104 seats and 40 folding seats for the PRM zone with a panoramic view of the Source, the Endurance zone and the Raidillon. The stands will offer 3139 seats with landscape integration and respect for the natural slope of the land. Finally, a large modular box in two distinct spaces will be present within the stands. The stands and stands could previously accommodate 3700 people, so almost twice as many will now be available to the public.

The work will be completed by mid-April 2023, bringing the total capacity in stands and grandstands around the track to 16000 seats (excluding boxes and Rallycross stadium).

Amaury Bertholome, Managing Director

“I am delighted to once again be able to offer modernized reception facilities for spectators within the Endurance zone. With the work carried out during the 2022-2023 winter break, the Circuit continues its dynamic of maintaining the tool at the top of its capabilities and at a global level of excellence. The developments in the paddocks are also part of the investments necessary to welcome our organizers of events and sporting competitions in optimal conditions. »

Indeed, other work is currently underway, which aims to preserve the tool and more specifically concerns the replacement of the Rohon pipeline in the upper part of the paddocks.

The Rohon is a 3rd category river which has its source near the Ster area. It flows mainly in the open air up to the level of the Source bend from where it is channeled before being discharged into the Eau Rouge watercourse in the lower part of the paddocks.

Following the episodes of extremely intense rain which have been repeated in recent years and the damage caused on the track and in the paddocks, work was necessary to secure the Circuit's infrastructure.

As the canalized part of the Rohon is not uniform in terms of section, slope and direction of flow, this work consists of standardizing the pipes, making it possible to absorb a greater flow (estimated for a fifty-year rain) in order to minimize risks.

The Spa-Francorchamps Circuit is therefore continuing its investments in renovating its infrastructure but also in improving the reception of its spectators in order to guarantee its customers and its public the highest standards of quality allowing it to host the biggest championships. motor sports.
