The ambitious Belgian KM99 team is ready to renew its participation in the FIM Endurance World Championship by recruiting Randy de Puniet et Jeremy Guarnoni to race alongside the current driver Florian Marino. Pre-season testing in Spain is scheduled for early March ahead of the second EWC campaign.
The Belgian KM99 team powered by Yamaha, newly entered in EWC in 2023, will count on Randy de Puniet et Jeremy Guarnoni, in addition to its current driver Florian Marino, to try to progress further in the flagship category of Formula EWC, after an impressive debut.
The former MotoGP rider Randy de Puniet, aged 42, joins KM99 from the Kawasaki Webike Trickstar team, while Jeremy Guarnoni, part of the SRC Kawasaki France team that won the 2018-19 EWC title, comes from the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team, with which the 30-year-old rider took victory at the 24H SPA EWC Motos in 2022.
They join the team in place of Bastien Mackels et Lucas Mahias, who helped KM99 reach 10th place in the FIM World Endurance Championship for Teams in 2023.
Gaëtan Schyns, owner of the KM99 team, said: “I am extremely happy to welcome Randy and Jérémy to our team for the 2024 season. With Florian, we have brought together three high-level riders, demonstrating our determination to compete with the best teams. I warmly welcome them and am convinced that we will achieve great things together. »
Mario Kupper, director of the KM99 team, said: “The 2023 season has been a period of learning and challenges for us. We are approaching 2024 with more maturity and confidence. We are delighted to continue with Florian Marino, who performed very well last year. He will undoubtedly be a top runner again this year. After the departure of Luca [Mahias], it was essential to form a coherent trio. I am delighted to welcome Randy de Puniet and Jérémy Guarnoni to the KM99 team. Their arrival reflects the seriousness and ambitions of our project. With the continued support of Yamaha and Dunlop, we can't wait to take to the track for the first tests and begin this new collaboration. »
KM99 is planning a pre-season testing program in Spain in March before the 2024 EWC gets underway at Le Mans with the 24 Heures Motos from April 18-21.
