From MotoGP to EWC to MotoE. Xavier Siméon will spend more time on the track than the 5 races initially planned in MotoE since he will return to the World Endurance Championship thanks to Yamaha Viltais Pierret Experiences.

After the difficult times experienced last year in MotoGP, the Belgian decided to resume his career in the FIM EWC championship, with one of the most ambitious teams in the field.

BACK TO ENDURANCE  – Simeon, 29, had already raced in the World Endurance Championship in 2008, when he participated in the 24 Heures Motos du Mans as a reserve driver for the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team. At the time, Siméon was a leading FIM Superstock 1000 Cup racer with Alstare Suzuki, but the EWC appearance had also been positive. » Although Yamaha Viltais is a rookie in the EWC category (they previously raced in Superstock, editor's note), they are very ambitious for the future  » – said Simeon, who has a championship title in the European Superstock 600 (2006, with Suzuki Alstare) and one in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup (2009, with the Ducati Xerox junior team) – “So I decided to accept their offer and bring them the experience I have acquired in Moto2 and MotoGP. For my part, I will count on a very ambitious team and I am sure that they will do their best to offer a competitive bike. Furthermore, I am very happy to join the Yamaha family ". The Belgian will take part in the inaugural MotoE season (5 rounds) and the rest of the 2018/2019 FIM EWC (24 Heures Motos at Le Mans, 8 Hours of Oschersleben, 8 Hours of Slovakia and 8 Hours of Suzuka), as he There is no conflict between the two championships.

BIG EXPECTATIONS  – The rider from Etterbeek will experience his first full season in the World Endurance Championship with Yamaha Viltais Pierret Experiences, a winning team of the 2016/2017 FIM Endurance World Cup (trophy reserved for EWC Superstock teams) . The French team has just moved up to the EWC category and Simeon will share his Yamaha R1 with his former opponent in Moto3 and Moto2, Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup champion Florian Alt. The remaining two drivers are yet to be announced.
