The Grand Prix Commission, composed of MM. Vito Ippolito (President of the FIM), Carmelo Ezpeleta (CEO of Dorna Sports), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA), Javier Alonso (Dorna) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA), was held today in Mies (Geneva) in the brand new FIM building.

Among the half-dozen points on the agenda, the main subject concerned the restructuring of the structures authorized to impose disciplinary sanctions.

According to our information, anxious not to find itself judge and jury, and thus to be constantly suspected of being able to favor this or that pilot, Dorna intended to withdraw from the bodies authorized to impose disciplinary sanctions after investigation.

The Spanish promoter and the FIM have therefore worked to limit the ability of Race Management to impose immediate sanctions following clear faults, such as those resulting in a black flag or a Ride-Through. La Dorna remains present there, currently by Javier Alonso. For anything that is more complex and requires investigations (videos, telemetry, driver interviews, etc.), as in the case of the Rossi/Marquez collision at Sepang, this will be judged by Mike Webb plus two referees or commissioners of the FIM, and the verdict will be rendered within just a few days (less than a week).

So much for the broad outlines which are modeled on what is happening in F1, the details and details being announced very soon in a press release.

Another point discussed, the obligation to equip MotoGP rims with pressure sensors, as in Moto2 where this has been compulsory since 2015. Here again, from what we understand, the measure was well received (it was requested by several parties even before Loris Baz's accident at Sepang) and will be definitively ratified in the coming days.
