More than 100.000 spectators came to Mugello this Sunday. Under the gaze of the Tuscan hills, Loris Baz hoped to shine and put an end to the problems he has been suffering from for several Grands Prix.

For this first Italian race of the season on Ducati territory, the Frenchman thought he had found the start of a solution. Unfortunately, he was unable to put this work to good use in the race. Author of a good start, Loris Baz opted for caution at the first corner. Unfortunately, the Ducati rider paid the consequences of a collision between Alvaro Bautista and Jack Miller.

Loris Baz suffers from several fractures in his right foot. A dislocation was reduced on scene at the medical center. He will undergo an operation this week in Switzerland. He hopes to be back in Barcelona in a few days for the next Catalan Grand Prix.

» I got a good start, but I couldn't find the opening in the first corner. I went outside without taking any risks. I don't really know who hit me, but I found myself in the tank with Alvaro and Jack. Alvaro immediately came to apologize. I also immediately knew that my foot was injured.

The Medical Center took very good care of me. Placed on morphine, I had x-rays: four fractures were diagnosed as well as a displaced metatarsal. I was placed under general anesthesia to put the metatarsal back in place. I will be heading to Switzerland tomorrow to have an operation.

I have never suffered from an injury like this and it is still too early to say today if I will be back for the Catalan Grand Prix. If I have to miss the race to be at my best afterwards, I will do it. What bothers me the most will be missing the test after the Grand Prix, because we really need it.

We tried some new settings in warm-up, which didn't really work. We have one more idea to test, but for now the problem remains. »
