So there was no smoke without fire...
After ten years without a Formula 1 Grand Prix, the latter will indeed make its return to France and Christian Estrosi, former motorcycle pilot and President of the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur (Paca) region, confirmed this yesterday during a press conference organized at the headquarters of the Automobile Club de France (ACF), place de la Concorde in Paris.
« The Formula 1 French Grand Prix will make its return in 2018, on the Paul-Ricard circuit in Le Castellet. I announce it to you firmly. This is a great ambition for France, on behalf of the Paca region. »
We therefore welcome this good news for French motorsport in general!
The Paul-Ricard circuit hosted the French Grand Prix 14 times in the past, between 1971 and 1990 before the Magny-Cours circuit took over between 1991 and 2008, the year of the last F1 GP organized in the Hexagon and won by Felipe Massa.
