As part of the valorization of French Superbike Championship and in order to promote the best riders in the Supersport 600 series internationally while facilitating their access to the WorldSBK World Championship, the French Motorcycling Federation, supported by the GMT94 and Yamaha, has decided to award a Wild Card to the The outcome of the Pau Arnos event, fifth round of the championship. As a reminder, this Wild Card is intended for the driver leading the French Supersport 600 Championship at mid-season, thus offering him the opportunity to participate in the French round of the WorldSBK World Championship in Magny-Cours (58) on 6, September 7 and 8.

Alexy Négrier wins the Wild Card

Corentin Perolari currently at the head of the Supersport 600 general classification was offered a wild card by his current team CBO Honda France with the support of the FFM, it is therefore Alexy Négrier currently 2nd in the provisional classification who obtains the wild card offered by the FFM, the GMT94 and Yamaha. Author of an imperial start to the season by winning the first 4 races of the year in the rain, Alexy Négrier moved into first position in the general classification before being overtaken by Perolari then Enzo De La Vega after Magny-Cours . Arriving on the Pau Arnos circuit with only 2 points behind his main opponent, the young Le Mans rider scored 32 points this weekend while his predecessor did not finish either race. During the WorldSBK round in Magny-Cours, Alexy will have a Yamaha R6 prepared in the workshops of the Parisian structure and will benefit from the technical and human support of the team managed by Christophe Guyot.

Sébastien Poirier, President of the French Motorcycling Federation "The French Motorcycling Federation is doing everything it can to support French riders to shine on the international scene. This Wild Card in the Supersport 600 category represents a real opportunity to represent your country in the World Championship. Indeed, Valentin Debise and Johan Gimbert are the perfect examples, after winning this Wild Card two years in a row, Valentin is a key rider on the Supersport 600 grid in WorldSBK, currently 4th in the general classification with a few podiums to his credit. Johan Gimbert, for his part, is now distinguishing himself in the Junior GP Moto 2 category. Our partnership with GMT94 and Yamaha is bearing fruit and is lasting. I wish Alexy just as much success. I also note that this dynamic launched allows other drivers and teams to develop a similar project like Corentin Perolari's participation in this French round of WorldSBK."

Christophe Guyot, Team Manager GMT94 Yamaha : “The wild card project which consists of offering a handlebar to the best French 600 supersport rider to participate in the world Superbike Championship event in Magny-Cours has been renewed with the French Motorcycling Federation and Yamaha France. The important thing for the GMT94 and the FFM is to continue to maintain the link between the World Championship and the National Championship. La Mutuelle des Motards and Pirelli are fully associated with the project as well as all the GMT94 partners. For the first time, it is not the driver leading the championship who will benefit from the same bike as Lucas Mahias and the support of the GMT94 technical team. We can be delighted that the CBO team, from a competing brand, offered Corentin Perolari the chance to race as a wild card at Magny-Cours. Well done to them. DORNA can offer 2 French pilots as wild cards. France will be able to present two pilots from the FSBK.
Alexy Négrier is the first Yamaha rider after the Pau Arnos race. He is second in the provisional championship ranking, and therefore wins the wild card offered by the GMT94 and the FFM.
To best prepare for the French round of the Mondial Supersport, the driver will be entitled to 2 days of private testing on the Nivernais track, on August 16 and 17.”
