FFM: They're working hard at Carole before Le Vigeant!

Three times a year, the FFM organizes training camps for promising French speed riders; this week at the Carole circuit...

While passing through the Carole circuit, we were able to observe some of the work carried out by the French Motorcycling Federation (FFM) with young pilots participating in the various speed competitions.

The National Technical Director, Marc ItemanHe summarized his credo for facing the Spanish and Italian teams in Grand Prix racing: "Roll, roll, roll".

And sure enough, it was running smoothly!

A dozen promising young players, from all categories, were divided into two working groups, the first comprising Enzo Bellon (Moto3 MotoJunior) Léandre Martinez (FSBK OGP NSF 250) et Esteban Niel (FSBK OGP NSF 250) under the supervision ofAlain BronecThe second group consisted of about ten young prospects from the FSBK. Pre-Moto 4 and Moto 5, younger riders, working with Alexis Masbou.

Alain Bronec explained to us the purpose of this two-day session before the round of the FSBK at Le Vigeant: “For years we have been inviting riders to two training camps: the French National Team riders, the OGP NSF 250 riders, the pre-Moto 4 riders and the Moto 5 riders. For several years the Federation has been inviting them to Alès at the beginning of the season twice, once in February and once in April. And then, once, when there is the summer break, that is to say when the riders generally have a long break, they are invited to the Carole circuit for two days.
The goal is to set up exercises, to work, to do technical work. Here, in my group, we worked on braking and downshifting with Enzo on a 600, but also with Léandre Martinez who rides an NSF 250, and who will be racing at Vigeant next week.
The objective was to work on braking and, above all, to be able to brake straight for as long as possible, because what we see is that in the Moto3 and Moto4 categories of MotoJuniorThe goal is to try to optimize braking by braking straight for as long as possible in order to stop the motorcycle, to properly prepare for acceleration at the exit of the corner.

It's always complicated for us to establish or change drivers' habits over a race weekend because we're always pressed for time. There are the free practice sessions, of course, but then the qualifying sessions come around: drivers sometimes get stressed and struggle to implement things that aren't entirely natural for them. So, on days like this, when there's no stress, we try to get the drivers to develop automatic responses so they can apply them during the races.
So there you have it, we worked on this kind of exercise, and for Léandre, who is going to Vigeant this weekend, we hope that he will be able to put into practice what he has learned.

As for Alexis (Masbou), he too prepared the riders for this weekend at Le Vigeant, with overtaking exercises, starts, and long laps: the rider who takes the lead does a long lap, drops back behind the group, and has to repeat the overtaking maneuver. Each rider who is in the lead must then complete a long lap to get to the back of the group and start overtaking maneuvers again.

So we work on things like that, specific and well-supervised exercises, to prevent falls.

And not much free time for the young drivers, since each group debriefed while the other drove, and vice versa…
