As part of the revitalization of the French FSBK-FE Championship and with the objective of promoting the best drivers of the series internationally and facilitating access to the WorldSBK World Championship, the French Motorcycling Federation, with the support of the GMT94 and Yamaha, awarded 1 wildcard to the evening of the Pau Arnos event, the fifth stage of the flagship cycle of French speed events. As a reminder, this wildcard rewards the leading driver of the French Supersport 600 Championship mid-season to enable him to compete in the French round of the WorldSBK World Championship in Magny-Cours (58) on September 8, 9 and 10.

Johan Gimbert wins the wildcard

Since his first appearance in the French Supersport 600 Championship, Johan Gimbert has experienced a meteoric rise after winning a French Supersport 600 challenger Champion title in 2022. This season, he is at the forefront in the category with 4 victories out of 10 races already disputed. He succeeds Valentin Debise, winner of the 2022 edition, who now plays with the French GMT94 team in the Supersport World Championship. Johan will have a Yamaha R6 prepared in the workshops of the Parisian structure and will benefit from the technical and human support of the team managed by Christophe Guyot.

Sébastien Poirier, President of the French Motorcycling Federation : " The French Motorcycling Federation is doing everything it can to help French riders shine on the international scene. Valentin Debise is the perfect example. This wildcard in the Supersport 600 category represents a real opportunity to represent your country in the World Championship. Indeed, after winning this wildcard two years in a row, he is now a key driver on the Supersport 600 grid in WorldSBK. Our partnership with GMT94 and Yamaha has borne fruit and I wish just as much success to Johan who wins this wildcard this season. »

Christophe Guyot, GMT94 : " At 18 years old, Johan Gimbert becomes the youngest winner of the wildcard awarded each year to the leader of the French Championship a few weeks before the French round of the Supersport World Championship which will take place at Magny-Cours on September 8, 9 and 10. . Congratulations to Johan, whom we will meet from August 17 to 19 on the Nivernais circuit to prepare alongside Valentin Debise, winner last year and now holder of World Supersport with the GMT6 Yamaha R94. »
