A fatal accident occurred yesterday in Poggio Piccolo, near Castel Guelfo. Cristiano Lucchinelli, aged 36 and son of the 500 cc World Champion in 3 on Suzuki, was the victim.
According to initial findings, Christiano was heading from Poggio Piccolo in the direction of Calstel Guelfo, when his motorcycle hit a Range Rover which was turning left.
The accident occurred this Tuesday at 19:30 p.m. It would seem (with all reservations) that in order to avoid the car which was turning in front of him, Cristiano hit the front left side of the vehicle, then was thrown onto the right where there was a surrounding wall.
A rescue helicopter had to be brought from very far away, because the one from Bologna was already involved in another accident. A priori, Cristiano was killed instantly.
We extend to Marco Lucchinelli and his family our saddened condolences for this terrible blow of fate which has struck them.
