Like the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, and considering that the names which appear there today are those which we will talk about tomorrow in Grands Prix, since last year we have been following the European Talent Cup which is contested on Honda Moto3 strictly standard.
Good news, French drivers are well represented there, in particular by Lorenzo Fellon (ZF Grand Prix School) and Clement Rougé (French team – GP sector) who, although beginners in this category, are starting to show the tip of their noses to the more seasoned drivers who were already there last year.
Ranked 5th and 8th respectively on the starting grid, they will be keen to confirm this hierarchy established among the sixty drivers present for qualifying.
The weather is good when the 38 drivers selected for the main race line up on the starting grid, with 25° in the air and 30° on the tarmac.
When the red lights go out, Daijiro Sako (Cuna de Campeones) started best from his 2nd place on the grid but his teammate and polesitter Izan Guevara (Cuna de Campeones) regains the advantage at the first braking at the end of the straight line.
Lorenzo Fellon did not make an excellent start and appeared 8th on the first pass, just in front Clement Rougé.
Izan Guevara gradually stands out in front of a platoon led by Fermin Aldeguer (Bester Capital Dubai) and Dirk Geiger (Kiefer Racing), while Lorenzo Fellon begins spectacular braking at the end of the straight.
Izan Guevara seems untouchable and even Fermin Aldeguer who has broken away from the peloton does not seem able to threaten him. This is a mistake because the junction takes place halfway through the race and the two teenagers will fight at loggerheads until the finish line which they will cross with a gap of only 0,069 seconds and a 3rd consecutive victory for Izan Guevara !
Behind, the fight is on for the last step of the podium, and it is Daijiro Sako (Cuna de Campeones) who finally took it at the end of 15 laps.
Lorenzo Fellon temporarily occupied 3rd place but finished in 6th position, 2,2 seconds behind the winner after a good comeback: the driver has the pace of his elders and is only missing something...
A little further, Clement Rougé is 9th at 7,9 seconds, while Gabin Planques only finished 31st at 26 seconds.
In the championship, Izan Guevara (Cuna de Campeones) is now more than one race ahead of Fermin Aldeguer (Bester Capital Dubai).
