The storm broke out last night after the high temperatures which reigned during qualifying for this round of the FIM CEV Moto2 European Championship in Aragon.

Moto2 Race 1:

As was feared, it was on a wet track and with rain tires that the 30 drivers lined up on the starting grid for this first Moto2 race on the Motorland circuit.

When the red lights go out, Edgar Pons (Kalex, Baiko Racing Team) maintains the advantage provided by his pole position and achieves the holeshot in front Yari Montella (Speed Up, Team Ciatti) and Niki Tuuli (Kalex, Team Stylobike).

From the 2nd turn, Yari Montella however, takes command and accelerates the pace in front of Niki Tuuli, Héctor Garzo (Tech3, CNS Motorsport) and Miquel Pons (Kalex, H43 Team Nobby Talasur-Blumaq).

The 4 men accelerate again under the impetus ofHéctor Garzó but after one lap completed, the race is stopped at the red flag without us really understanding why other than the championship leader Edgar Pons completely missed his start to the race on the first lap…

It starts again after 20 minutes for a duration reduced to 10 laps while retaining the original starting grid.

At the 2nd start, Edgar Pons leaves everyone there and tries to escape in front of a platoon led by Niki Tuuli et Héctor Garzó.

The latter once again showed himself very comfortable on a wet track and took command before the end of the first lap, followed by the Malaysian Kasma Daniel bin Kasmayudin (Kalex, Dynavolt Intact SIC Junior Team) and Niki Tuuli.

While the trajectories are very gradually starting to dry out, the pilots still seem to be on eggshells and now have a fairly well stabilized hierarchy: Hector Garzo before Kasma Daniel bin Kasmayudin, Yari Montella, Niki Tuuli and Edgar Pons while Cedric Tangre is in 14th position.

Halfway through the race, while a few drops reappeared, the leader Héctor Garzo However, suddenly downgrades one place, following a piloting error.

Behind, the battle rages for 3rd place while Miquel Pons successfully tackles the trio Montella-Tuuli-Edgar Pons.

In the lead, there are 3 laps remaining and Héctor Garzó tries to get back on the Dynavolt driver, a task he completes on the last lap before getting the better of his opponent and taking victory with his Mistral Tech3.

In the championship, Edgar Pons maintains a serious advantage over Niki Tuuli et Héctor Garzo.

Race 2:

The track is completely dry for the 2nd Moto2 race, with temperatures of 26° in the air and 34° on the ground.

Conditions that the poleman appreciates Edgar Pons who, once again, did not miss his start and crossed the first corner in the lead. Behind him we find Nicky Tuuli, Hector Garzo et Alessandro Zacone (Kalex, Promoracing) who try to escape with the leader.

In this little game, Héctor Garzo proves to be the strongest and is the only one able to keep up Edgar Pons. The Mistral Tech3 driver even took the lead 14 laps from the checkered flag and, from then on, the two men never left each other and exchanged leadership until 6 laps from the finish, when Héctor Garzó gradually picks up.

Edgar Pons flies towards a new victory in front of his valiant adversary, while Niki Tuuli wins the fight for the 3rd step of the podium against Alessandro Zacone et Yari Montella.

In the championship, Edgar Pons increases his lead and heads towards a 2nd title as the fight between Niki Tuuli et Héctor Garzó looks set to be contested…
