In extremely hot conditions (35° in the shade), the drivers set about the task of making the most of the scorching Jerez tarmac. In the FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship, it was Iván Ortolá (KTM, Team MTA) who did the work to snatch pole position. Alonso López (Boscoscuro, Boscoscuro Talent Team – Ciatti) will start the Moto2™ European Championship for the third time this season, while Max Martinez (Team Honda Laglisse) qualified ahead in the Hawkers European Talent Cup .

FIM qualifying trials Moto3™ JWCh were determined by track conditions. With much cooler conditions in the morning, almost all drivers were unable to improve their times from QP1 to QP2. It was therefore a double for Team MTA which won, Ivan Ortolá taking pole position with just under a tenth ahead of his teammate Elia Bartolini, a great performance for his debut in 2021 in the FIM Moto3™ JWCh.

Joel Kelso (KTM, AGR Team) completes the first row of the grid, and takes his second front row of the season.

Although he is only 0,128s from pole position, Takuma Matsuyama (Honda, Asia Talent Team) leads the second row of the starting grid, while David Muñoz (KTM, Avatel Cardoso Racing) and Scott Ogden (GasGas, Aspar Team) achieve their best qualifying results in 2021, with 5th and 6th places respectively.

The leader of the championship, Daniel Holgado (GasGas, Aspar Team), had to settle for 10th position, thus offering an unexpected opportunity for the others to shine.

On the French side, we note the absence of our only representative, Clement Rougé (Husqvarna, Laglisse).

En Moto2™ ECh, Alonso lopez (Boscoscuro, Boscoscuro Talent Team – Ciatti) fought against his teammate and championship leader, Fermin Aldeguer, to take pole position with more than a tenth of a second in advance. Neither was able to improve on their time in the afternoon, as track temperatures climbed into the 40s, then 50s.

The situation was similar for Lukas Tulovic (Kalex, Liqui Moly Intact SIC Racing Team) whose morning time was sufficient to allow him to take 3rd place on the grid. Behind the first three, Adam Norrodin (Kalex, Liqui Moly Intact SIC Racing Team) placed fourth, Xavier Cardelus (Promotion) and Taiga Hada (AGR Team) completing the second row of the grid.

En HETC, this is the first pole position of the season for Maximo Martinez (Team Honda Laglisse). The 13-year-old has already found himself on the front row of the grid three times in 2021, but never in first position.

At his side, we find Brian Uriarte (Team Estrella Galicia 0,0), who achieved the best time in Group B. Alvaro Carpe (MT – Foundation 77) completes the front row and, as in the other categories, the three drivers achieved their best time during the morning session.

French side, alone Alex Gourdon (Leopard Impala Junior) managed to qualify in 18th position without going through the repechage race, unlike his brother Theo (Leopard Impala Junior), Guillem Planques (Larresport) and Clement Giabbani (French team). In the end, alone Theo Gourdon was drafted, our other two representatives having fallen.
