On a site steeped in history, the FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship and the European Talent Cup will each offer two races, while the Moto2™ European Championship will compete in just one.

En Moto3, following the passage of the first three of the 2020 Junior World Championship (Izan Guevara, Xavier Artigas and Pedro Acostain Grands Prix 2021, it is Daniel Holgado (Aspar Junior Team) who took his Gas Gas to the top step in Estoril. Daniel Holgado became the 20th different Spanish winner of the FIM Moto3™ JWCh since 2012, but he will have tough competition this weekend. David Salvador (TM Factory Racing Team) was second in the first race of the year and will be eager to go one better this weekend and give TM a historic first victory in the category, while the rookie David Alonso (Aspar Junior Team) was third on his debut. The Colombian David Alonso returns to the circuit where he won the ETC title in 2020, which promises more good memories this weekend.

Other drivers competing include Jose Julian Garcia (SIC58 Squadra Corse), who, before the opening round, was the only previous winner on the grid. As regards the Moto2™, we are currently witnessing a struggle between Boscoscuro motorcycles, formerly Speed Up. Fermin Aldeguer (Boscoscuro Talent Team – Ciatti) achieved a double victory in Estoril, after a titanic battle between him and his teammate Alonso Lopez.

The performance could be repeated in Valencia, both having good memories there, since Fermin Aldeguer won the STK600 title there last year, while Alonso lopez was on the podium in 2017 in the FIM Moto3™ JWCh. Third in the ranking in Portugal, the Malaysian Adam Norrodin (Kalex, Liqui Moly Intact SIC Racing Team), scored a first podium at Estoril, while the Thai Kevin Kubo (Kalex, VR46 Master Camp Team) was fourth. First poleman of 2021, Lukas Tulovic (Kalex, Liqui Moly Intact SIC Racing Team), is aiming for his first ever consecutive Moto2 podium and is currently seventh in the standings.

French side, Andy Verdoïa will still ride in the colors of the VR46 Master Camp team after finishing 10th and 12th in the two races at Estoril.

For theEuropean Talent Cup, there have already been two winners in 2021; following the fall in the last lap of the poleman Alvaro Carpe (MT-Foundation 77), Jacob Roulstone (Leopard Impala Junior Team) won Race 1 at Estoril, while David Garcia (Finetwork Hawkers Junior Team) won Race 2.
